Although most people start their resolutions at the beginning of a new year, I started mine last summer. One of those resolutions was to start eating better. One of the things that I discovered that helped me control my weight, was soup.  I’ve never been a big fan of it to tell the truth.  Of course I love tomato soup and a few others but beyond that I’ve never really been interested.  When I happened to notice Progresso’s Hearty Tomato I had to try it. Of course I loved it. It was nothing like the traditional tomato soup I had been eating.  It was more of a grown up soup.  Well, that one little discovery put me on the path to making my own homemade soups.

Then it was just recently that I realized I had to stop wasting food. My son and I are the only ones eating dinner together throughout the week so at times I would make a batch of soup, get sidetracked, forget to freeze it and eventually it would go to waste. Not to mention the lack of space in my freezer.  I decided making soup is definitely something I can only do once in a while. Not long after I was asked to try out the new Progresso Light and 100 calorie soups. I was hopeful and glad that I was.

One of the soups I received was Zesty Southwestern-Style Vegetable.  Oh my gosh, when I opened up the can I swear it smelled like I was at a Mexican restaurant. lol.  It smelled and tasted absolutely delicious. The best thing of all though was that it only has 60 calories per serving! You would never guess either.

And so it went like that.. I have slowly been going through each can of soup and I have yet to find one that I don’t like. I really am excited about the fact that they’re so low calorie and especially about the fact that some also have low sodium.

Three grand prize winners will be awarded a trip for two to New York City from May 21st-23rd. The prize includes roundtrip airfare, a two-night stay in a NYC hotel, a full makeover, a $1,000 wardrobe shopping spree and personal consultation at a New York department store.

I don’t plan on entering this contest myself due to the fact I’m expecting my second child (Think I’ll wait for the makeover until after I give birth) but good luck to you!

    I grew up eating Progresso Soup! My favorite would have to be New England Clam Chowder, but all of them are really excellent. Even the split pea! :)

    Yes, I always buy Progresso. I usually get the minestrone or the vegetable soups. The light versions are great – you cannot tell them are light!

    I have never tried progresso but I have heard a ton of good things about it. I would love to give them a try and see what I think. But for me I am more of a chicken soup kinda gal so I am sure i’ll love their chicken soup.
