K’s Kids Toys Review and Giveaway (Now Closed)

I remember when my oldest son was around 2 months old. I quickly figured out two things. That there wasn’t much variety at my local stores in way of shape sorters (the same 2 were at every store) and that a 2 month old can’t use a shape sorter! Big surprise there right? lol. Yes, just like a lot of new moms I was very naive.  Eventually he did learn how to use it after about 2 weeks of practice, but only when I reintroduced it at the proper age of 12 months.

Take a look:

The Review

Remember when I told you there wasn’t much variety in way of shape sorters at my local stores? Well check out Patrick Shapes A Boo from K’s Kids. He’s nothing like the other shape sorters I’ve seen. I wish we would have known about him from the beginning. He’s so cute! My son agreed because when I asked him which toy he wanted he picked out Patrick.

Even though my oldest son is now 2 I still wanted to check Patrick out, simply because there is a lot more to shape sorters than you think. They give younger children the ability to learn hand-eye coordination and dexterity. Those little fingers have to learn how to grasp the blocks in the right way in order to turn them and get them in the proper hole. It’s quite a big milestone if you actually think about it.  For older children there is the chance to learn the names of shapes and colors as well as what they look like. We all know that it’s easier to learn something when it’s hands on.

I have experience with a lot of toys over the past 2 1/2 years and I have to say that this toy ranks right at the top due to the high quality of craftsmanship. Because of that he should be able to last throughout the different stages of development. I’ve put together a few pro’s and con’s for you below.

Pros:

  • Blocks are top quality and not extremely thin plastic
  • The zipper around Patrick’s belly keeps all the blocks in their place when not in use (Mom’s will love that) and helps baby learn how to be tidy at the same time.
  • Patrick’s cuteness appeals to children and will more than likely encourage them to play with him more often (which is great since he’s an educational toy)
  • There is a lot more than just blocks to Patrick. He has a mirror on his foot, abc’s all over his body and other activities on his back.
  • He has a cute little handle on his back for on-the-go fun!

Cons:

  • I couldn’t find a single one!

Check out how happy my son is playing with Patrick Shapes A Boo
