Giving Thanks

I took a few days off from my blog. My 2 yr old has got the sniffles, mommy has a raging toothache & back pain and the baby has been eating like he’s having a growth spurt. Since Dad was home for a few extra days we had to make the most of it (and sleep in!) So this is a few days late but I wanted to say I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!  It was just my husband and kids at our house this year, again. We’ll be having our family dinner with my Mom and brother (who’s coming home from the marines this week! woot) on the 11th or so. He won’t be home for Christmas this year so we’re doing a sort of all-in-one and are just going to exchange our gifts with my brother before he leaves again.

I decided to go ahead and cook for us because I’m one of those people that no matter how small the party I have to celebrate the holiday. I am especially proud to be American and I just couldn’t imagine skipping the day. I always cook too much food because I secretly daydream about having a huge family where everyone gathers together and celebrates. It’s something I’ve always wanted. Unfortunately I got started on having kids way too late for that to be a reality. Maybe by the time I’m a Grandma I’ll get that wish.

All in all even though it was just us it was a nice day. I am incredibly thankful for my beautiful boys, who I know will someday grow up to look forward to holidays as much as I do and will more than likely be able to eat every bit of what I cook. And for my husband of course for working to provide for all of us.

So here’s the obligatory picture of a turkey. I actually cooked that thing..err.. overcooked. Can you believe they still sell turkey’s without a timer and I was a big enough dunce to pick one out? LOL

Gobble Gobble

Hope your holiday was as wonderful as mine no matter how big or small the celebration.
