Do you remember your first date with your significant other? Well for me, my first date wasn’t really a date at all. It was more like a flight across the Atlantic, a train from Paris to Copenhagen, a ferry to Gothenburg and another train to Norway. Amazing huh? Yep, I traveled all that way to meet my husband for the very first time. When my sister and I finally arrived I was so nervous I couldn’t eat.
All my trips and “dates” with my husband in Norway were extremely memorable for me. Traveling across the world, experiencing a new culture, falling in love. Aaaah those were the days. Skip forward 10 years and here we are living in America. My husband went from being a musician to a truck driver and I went from globetrotting and way too many years of trying to find myself to becoming a mom to two beautiful boys. I wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything in the world.
These days it can be pretty hard to pencil in a date night without any kids around. Seeing as we have a 2.5 yr old and a 2 month old it probably won’t be happening anytime soon… unless it’s a stay-in kind of date. That’s something we can find time for.. occasionally! Put the kids to bed, pop in a dvd, cook up some popcorn, dim the lights and voila.
Macaroni Grill, Wanchai Ferry & MyBlogSpark are going to give one of my readers the chance to have their very own date night complete with 2 delicious dry dinner kits and a $25 gift card. If you’re like us you can make several date nights out of it, and hopefully you don’t have to share the dinners with the kiddies because they are yummy!
The Review
I really loved the Macaroni Grill Creamy Basil. I was a little hesitant because I had tried their Chicken Marsala some time ago and it just wasn’t for me. The Creamy Basil is absolutely scrumptious though.
Same with Wanchai Ferry’s orange chicken. I omitted the peppers that are in the box simply because I’m nursing and didn’t want to cause any upsets. There was still plenty of spice. I added peas in myself. I would have added snow peas because I love them but I was all out!
Both kits contain enough for 2 adults and then some (in my opinion). Both were filling, delicious and extremely easy to make! Just add chicken! These kits are perfect when you don’t have a lot of time to cook or just want to make a small meal. I also have to say that I was much more pleased with the Wanchai Ferry dry dinner kit than I have been in the past with the frozen ones. I am pretty big on watching my sodium intake and these kits weren’t over the top thankfully.
