MyRegistry.com the leading universal gift registry website has announced its first-ever baby registry giveback for expectant mothers who are managing unforeseen financial difficulties impacting their ability to purchase baby necessities.
As part of a nationwide initiative to spread goodwill, expectant mothers, their friends and family are encouraged to share their stories of hardship via http://www.myregistry.com/baby-registry-giveback, between September 15 and October 15, 2011.
Four nominees will be selected as finalists and work with MyRegistry.com’s Personal Registry Concierge Service to create a baby registry filled with items needed to welcome their newborns.
The initiative is intended to rally community and national support for each expectant mother and allow people across the nation to purchase baby items from the four registries. The registry with the greatest number of purchases and/or donations will receive an additional $5,000 worth of goods, provided by MyRegistry.com.
If you’re having a hard time right now financially or you know someone who is and a baby is on the way, you’ll want to participate in this. If you know a mom who is not online tell her about it. If you’re not struggling right now, when the finalists are chosen, donate!! I know personally what it feels like to not have many people to help you. I never had a shower. I never had a registry. It’s a very sad and lonely feeling when you know baby is on the way and you might not have the things you need. It can be incredibly stressful. Thank goodness I’m in a better position these days, but I can’t stand the thought of knowing any other moms might ever feel the way I did. Please help in any way you can. As mothers we must stick together.
If you should happen to be nominated or know the person who is please tell me so that I can encourage the other readers to help!
As a military spouse, I feel the need to say something… If you’re going to donate, please choose those that are actually in need.
The military couple did not incur ANY costs from the complications or pregnancy. That’s the beauty of Tricare. Catastrophic health issues and major complications are entirely covered, minus a standard fee for delivering a child, which is under 100 dollars.
Also, as a Family Readiness Officer, Holly is making at least 40k a year on top of her husband’s salary, which as an officer of his rank, is at least 50-60k before taxes (which do not get taken out while deployed to active hazardous duty zones such as Afghanistan), on top of BAH (or housing if they’re living in military housing), and an allowance for food.
The other 3 people who have entered are definitely more in need than this couple who seems to not only be preparing for their current child with an excessive amount of WANTS and not NEEDS, but for themselves and their future children as well.
This sort of entitlement makes all military spouses look bad and it shouldn’t be rewarded.
