Join Me In A 28 Day Quest For Good Health With Orthaheel & Dr. Andrew Weil Integrative Footwear #walkabout

I’m happy to inform you that I have been chosen to be a brand ambassador for Orthaheel & Dr. Weil integrative footwear.  50 ambassadors were recently chosen across the United States to embark on a 28 day campaign to add 30 minutes of daily walking into their lifestyles.  So what does that mean? Well, over the next 28 days I plan on representing us mothers who may not get a lot of extra time to exercise. In fact if you’re anything like me when your Dr. asks if you’ve been exercising you say “Yeah I chase my kids around the house all day!”.  I will be re-incorporating walking into my daily routine and sharing my adventure with you.

I’m Not as Active as I Used to Be

As most know I am now 29 weeks pregnant. Since I live in Michigan it can be hard to get outside during the winter and get any real exercise. I have to admit that I’ve used that as an excuse and have neglected myself quite a bit.  In the summer following the birth of my first baby, even after being told I suffered from Spinal Stenosis I was up and walking every single day, at least 2-3 miles. It helped with my mental health as well as my physical health. After my second pregnancy I started to slow down as I learned how to manage caring for 2 children at once. By the time I found myself pregnant for the 3rd time I wasn’t exercising nearly as often, and not only could I feel that physically, but emotionally as well. I just feel like I’m not as strong, and that’s not something I want to feel going in to give birth in what will probably be less than 10 weeks.

Leading By Example for My Kids

I’m hoping that over the next 28 days I can build myself up to a regular routine of walking for at least 30 minutes each day.  Because I have 2 children & I’m pregnant I don’t expect to get 3 miles but I do expect to start feeling better about myself again and about myself as a mother. I really want to teach my kids healthy habits and what better way to learn, than by example? We have a little neighborhood park about 1 mile away and I plan on making that my first destination. Why not have fun while getting healthy?

Let’s Encourage Each Other

Not long ago I asked all of you on my Facebook fanpage what kind of exercise you did while pregnant and I was amazed to see that almost all of you had no sort of regular exercise. I thought I was the only one! I hope to be an inspiration to you as well in any way that I can and I hope if you have time you will encourage me as well. Some days my only motivation is the other mothers I connect with.  It’s going to be hard for me to put aside the dishes, the cleaning, the yard work, the distraction of the internet and make sure I do this every single day! So I will need all the encouragement I can get.
