Charmin Ultra Soft VS Ultra Strong 2012 Election

As most of you know, I raise all 3 of my children completely alone 5, sometimes 6 days a week. My husband is a truck driver these days and he’s not home very often. Because of that I’ve had to play Mom & Dad a lot of the time.  You could say I have to be strong, yet soft and  I have had to learn how to balance that.  It can be pretty hard when you don’t get any breaks or get any help with the kids for long periods of time. It’s very challenging to say the least.  Every day is a balancing act.

For the strong side of me I always have to be responsible. I have to manage the finances, the household, any automobile repairs. I have to manage all the grocery shopping, the meals, and the clean up. I have to get my preschooler to and from school and bring along the smaller ones, which that in itself can be a real challenge. I have to coordinate doctor & dentist appointments, and I have to work with the children on their learning skills. Sometimes we go to the park and get out energy, but even then I have to be strong because it’s hard to manage 3 children at once, especially with back problems.

The soft side of me shows up after dinnertime. That’s my time to spend with the kids, relaxing if only for a short while, getting everyone ready for bed, reading stories, watching movies, and laying down with the kids to get them to sleep. We sing songs and we talk about our day and what tomorrow will bring.

When the children are finally asleep I have to get strong again because my day does not end there. I have more cleaning to do, bills to pay, and then there is my Facebook page & blog.  I want to create my own “business” out of First-Time-Mommy.com but it’s been slow going. 3 children in 4 years makes it difficult, and just these past few weeks have been insanely hard as the kids and myself have been sick & adjusting to a new schedule with preschool. Of course I don’t have to blog or run the Facebook page but I enjoy “working” in some way that’s reminiscent of office work. It’s my way of keeping myself from getting too swept up in the day-to-day stay-at-home mommy world. As much as I have going on I would be bored without all this. Most of all I love staying strong through thick and thin and being able to help other moms and hopefully in the future be able to call this a career that will in turn help my family.

What about you? Do you find yourself to be Ultra Strong, or Ultra Soft or are you like me & a little bit of both?
