With tax season in full swing, if you’re like me, you’ve been thinking about all the ways to maximize the value of your return. Of course as parents, most of us are also looking for ways to save on a daily basis.  One of the first things I do each year at this time is to review and sometimes renegotiate our families various “plans”, cable/satellite, mobile phone plans, insurance, to make sure we’re getting the best value that works for us.  We recently headed to Walmart to check out their new Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan, which features Unlimited Talk, Text, & up to 10GB of 4G LTE data for only $49.88 per month. There’s also an added PLUS of one free movie on VUDU ($7 value) every month per line. 

They’ve got some great phones available that you can pick up in store or online, such as the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (as seen below) which is currently only $99.00 (on Rollback from $149.00). All you need to get going is the phone and a starter kit, which will cost you $25.

Walmart makes it easy to find everything you need to get set up. Just head on over to the Entertainment service desk area. They have several phones to choose from, like LG, Samsung, HTC, Alcatel.  I’ve owned Samsung’s for many years now and was really impressed by the quality of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. At the current price it really can’t be beat. It was a cinch to set up and took only a few minutes.

 

 

Because I have three small kids our phones and our plan must be multi-functional. With soccer season starting soon we’re going to be spending more time away from home. Although the boys love to play they don’t really love watching each other play for an entire game. Often times if it’s still chilly out they’ll stay close by and play on my phone or a tablet. So the first thing I did was hook up one of our learning app’s from school. They’re able to practice their reading during down time! We strive for 20 minutes per kid, per day.  Being able to accomplish two things at once is a necessity for us.  Especially when we have games or practice on a school night.

Of course I also need to be able to keep up with the First-Time-Mommy.com page in my spare time. If there is any such thing as spare time when you have three kids!

 

One of the cool things about the new Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan is that you get a free VUDU movie each month for each line.  In our house we do “Family Movie Night” as one of the many ways we spend quality time together. We pop up our popcorn, gather our other snacks, and I make a special juice that I let the kids put into reusable soda bottles. They think they’re drinking pop! Funny thing is I still find a way to be a mom and hide carrots in the juice.  

 

 

We love to watch our movies on our TV through our ROKU and camp out in the living room.  Making the most of our downtime is super important. By the time my boys get home from school each day it’s already dinner time, homework, shower, and reading time.. and before you know it, it’s bedtime. Special days like “Family Movie Night” give the kids something fun to look forward to and with a free VUDU movie each month as part of the Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan it’s a great way to save a few extra bucks in the process!
