A few months before my 20th birthday, my husband (at the time, boyfriend) and I found out we were pregnant. It was scary, but so exciting. Pregnancy was one of the most amazing, albeit at times frustrating, experience I have ever gone through. The days leading up to my daughters birth seemed to be the longest!

October 25
I went in for my OBGYN appointment. I had been suffering much pain the last month of pregnancy due to the pressure my daughter was putting on my tail bone. I managed to get my doctor to sweep my membranes, and she explained that IF it did do the trick, it would take about 24-48 hours for contractions to kick in. I was already 83% softened as well as 2 cm dilated. I cramped that night, but no contractions.

October 26th

I felt better than I had my whole pregnancy, and I was annoyed!! I thought for sure I’d end up going way past my due date, and end up being induced. I guess since she’s my first child, I was a tad bit anxious to meet her. Being a newly wed (we tied the knot on the 22nd of October, just in time for my daughters birth) and an expecting mother, I was filled with so much happy anxiety. I went on a looong walk, bounced on my exercise ball, made love to my husband, ate all things pineapple/spicy. Nothing worked, no contractions, no cramps, no water breaking, nada. I spent that night praying, for 3 hours straight.

October 27th

Woke up at 4:30am with a HUGE contraction. I remember during my pregnancy I was nervous about contractions. I was so young, and never had I ever been pregnant. I thought I might not know if its a contraction or a cramp, and I was terrified I wouldn’t be able to time them correctly. Eh, anyways, the contraction hit and I just knew it was real. I couldn’t believe I was so afraid. I mean, it hurt, it painfully hurt, but it was amazing to know I was going to meet her soon. From 4:30am-10am, my contractions stayed 8-10 minutes apart. Once it hit 10:30am, it was every 5-7 minutes. I took a bath and shaved everything! Except for my hair on top of my head, ahahaha. I also double checked my hospital bag, made grill cheese for the husband and I, then we went on a long walk, because I didn’t want to show up at the hospital and be told to walk around to get things moving. We stopped at Jamba Juice on the way.

Once checked in, I was 4 cm dilated. I did receive the epidural, and then they broke my water. FINALLY around 8ish, the nurse said it was time for practice pushing. We did it twice, and she told me I was a natural, and also if I push anymore I’ll have my daughter out of there. So, she calls the doctor up to my room, buuut ten minutes later still no doctor. I’m freaking out because the urge to push is just too strong. The doctor finally walks in, and with maybe two or three pushes, out comes my beautiful daughter, Anilyn Marie.

She turns one year old in 5 weeks! She’s the best gift I have ever received.
