31 Days of #Halloween with Kids – Day Two: Monstrously Monsterific Jell-O Cups

For Day 2 of our 31 Days of Halloween series I created these monstrously monsterific Jell-O cups while the kids were at school. If you have younger kids you can easily do them at nap time or after they go to bed.  It took roughly 1/2 hour to get these done. If you’re short on time you can buy pre-made Jell-O or gelatin cups from the grocery store if available OR you can use regular gelatin and fruit juice!

DAY 2:

Items needed:

3 small boxes of Jell-O (1 red, 1 orange, 1 green)

Black sharpie (or other permanent black marker).

Clear plastic snack cups (preferably with lid). I used 5.5 oz cups (163 ml). This recipe filled 9 of my plastic cups. I had about 50 oz of Jell-O total.

2 cup glass measuring jar or bowl that is easy to pour from

Instructions:

While you are decorating your plastic cups put a filled tea kettle on the stove and boil water. Place your Jell-O in a 2 cup glass measuring cup, or something similar that is easy to pour from, Make Jell-O according to directions (Outcome will be 2 cups). Put your tea kettle back on to boil. Fill your first monster cups up as high to the top as you can without spilling it, cover, place in fridge on a tray & then repeat with remaining colors.

Tips:
* Use any clear plastic cups you can find but be mindful that if you use 3 small boxes you’ll have 50 oz total liquid.
*  I decorated the vampire & Frankenstein upside down (since Frank’s head is usually square). If you don’t have lids decorate right-side up & use cellophane to cover the cups so they don’t dry out.

* Fill the cups to the very top if you decorate upside down so that you don’t have an empty gap at the top when the Jell-O sets.

P.S. I bought my clear snack cups at Walmart (to use for portion control for myself). You may find them in store. I could only find cups online at Amazon.com: https://amzn.to/2oA6r2U   (This is my affiliate link)
