Baby Milestones: Rolling over

Most parents expect that around 2 to 3 months their babies will begin rolling over from front to back. However, that’s not always the case. My son rolled over for the first time when he was only 2 1/2 weeks old. I’m sure his weight of 10lbs had a little to do with it, but it just goes to show that all babies develop differently and sometimes what you read doesn’t always apply to your…

6 month well baby check-up

Vincent had his 6 month well-baby check-up just a couple of weeks ago. I believe the shots he got were the Diphtheria–Tetanus–Pertussis, Haemophilus Influenza Type B, Polio, Pneumococcal Conjugate, and Rotavirus. He had the 2nd of his Hep B shots at his 3 month check-up so he didn’t get another this time. Either way, it’s a lot of shots at once. It’s 4 shots. 2 in each leg and one of them is oral. It’s…

Hugs and Kisses from baby

At around 3 months of age I thought for sure my son was going to say “I love you”.  He tried so hard to say it but he couldn’t manage the “lah” sound and the “you” was even harder.  Just last month after 5 months of “kisses for my baby boy” on his cheek and millions of “I love yous” He almost had it down.   Him and I were up alone one night and he…

Palin heightens rhetoric on abortion

Make of it what you will, this is a touchy subject so I’m just going to share the story with you without any comments from myself. From CNN: “Palin opposes abortion in all cases, including rape and incest, except when a mother’s life is in danger, and said she believes Roe v. Wade should be overturned and the decision given to the states. McCain voted for the Prohibit Partial Birth Abortion bill in 2003 and…

Angelina Jolie shown breastfeeding on magazine cover

Angelina Jolie appears on the cover of W’s November issue, while breastfeeding.  Good for her, she looks beautiful. After strolling through many blogs I came upon a lot of negative feedback. I truly can’t believe in this day and age there could be such negative responses to something as simple as a mother shown breastfeeding on a cover of a magazine, that something so innocent and natural could be misconstrued as anything other than a…

Pregnant women need flu shots

According to a blog on Cnn the CDC and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommend that women who will be pregnant during the flu season, get a flu shot. I don’t know exactly how I feel about that but I do know that I was completely unaware that it was recommended. A little more than 6 months ago when I gave birth to my son, I did so while having the flu. Let…

Child safety seat inspection/Car seat installation

One thing I have found that is very difficult is installing a car seat. Ok, maybe you think you had an easy time of it, but do you know if you installed it correctly? You may think you have but statistics show that’s not always the case. Something as simple as a harness thats too loose could cost you your child. I’m not trying to scare you, but I am trying to make you aware.…
