Spring Clean Your Snacking Regime With Sargento Fridge Packs–Review & Giveaway (Now Closed)

sargento

To help Americans clean up their snacking habits, Sargento has introduced the new Fridge Pack. The Sargento Fridge Packs are easy-to-see, stand-up packs of individually wrapped, never processed, natural cheese that make it easy to choose a better snack. While other cheese snacks are often placed in a cluttered cheese drawer, the Fridge Pack keeps cheese organized and easily accessible in the fridge.

According to a National Healthy Snack Survey sponsored by Sargento, more than 75 percent of adults consider quite a few to all of their snack choices to be unhealthy. Furthermore, the survey found that where snacks are placed matters. Half of consumers say they’re encouraged to eat healthier by being able to easily spot a healthy snack.

Last month if you had looked in my fridge you would have seen a horrible jumbled mess but it just so happens that the day my fridge packs arrived, my new fridge did as well. Our old one was over 25 years old and belonged to my Grandparents so it was here in the house when we got here. It was tiny, leaked, loud and was overall just gross. I could never find anything in it! In fact I never really wanted to put anything in there to begin with.

When I opened up the Sargento fridge packs I was really inspired to organize my new fridge in a way that would make it easier for my 3 year old and myself to snack a little wiser. Since my son loves string cheese it was just a no-brainer to place them in an area of the fridge that he could easily get to. This way he could try the other types of cheeses as well. This is no joke, I think he spends about an hour a day just opening and closing the refrigerator door. With the packs on the shelf easier to reach he’s been grabbing cheese every day, which is way better than some of the other things he usually asks me for.

Of course I make sure to put other healthy options nearby as well, like various fruits, such as cantaloupe, blueberries, and yogurt. For myself 8 oz serving sizes of sparking juice instead of pop, a large variety of fat free and light salad dressings for my salads and more adult fruit like grapefruit. Sorry, couldn’t get a picture of it all as I was trying to wrangle an 8 month old & a 3 year old who wanted to start grabbing as soon as the door was open Smile

Organizing my new fridge with healthier snacking options

Overall I have to say I love the fridge packs for myself because they take up a lot less space by being able to place them in the door. Even if I had to put them on a shelf instead they still stay organized in their little box, unlike most of the string cheese I have bought in the past that comes in a bag and ends up all over the place and taking up the whole drawer! And of course Sargento cheese taste great. I’m hoping that this little clean up will inspire me to keep everything in the fridge organized so that we’re able to quickly spot healthier choices.

Speaking of making healthier choices, Sargento spokesperson Liz Ward, MS, RD. recommends the following tips to help you spring clean your snacking regime as well:

  • Refresh your snacking habits. The annual spring cleaning ritual can also pertain to your snacking habits. While you’re spring cleaning your kitchen this year, transform your snacking routine, too. Keep healthy choices front and center to make smart snacking a cinch. Fill a bowl with fresh whole fruit and set it on the counter, keep whole grain crackers and rolls in your desk or purse, and place a Sargento Fridge Pack in an easy-to-reach place in your fridge. Pack portable snacks. When the clock strikes 3:00 p.m., we know you’re looking for a snack to tide you over. Take food with you to munch on when you’re at work or on the road to prevent unexpected trips to the vending machine or drive through.
  • Turn over a new snacking leaf. Chips, cookies and candy can often wreak havoc on our diets. Stock up on nutrient-rich foods such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, eggs and cheese to obtain that necessary boost in energy.
  • Pay attention to portions. American portion sizes continue to increase everywhere we go and, consequently, so do our waistlines. Healthy snacks should fit into your calorie budget, not be additions that you don’t account for. Aim for 100 to 200 calories per snack, and count snack calories as part of your daily energy allowance to avoid this common mistake.
  • Protein + fiber = The best snacks. We know it can be a challenge to find satisfying snacks that are both nutritious and pack a punch of flavor. Try pairing foods with protein, such as eggs, cheese and nuts, with fiber-filled fare, including fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Foods rich in protein and fiber help you to feel fuller for longer, and they pack other vital nutrients to support good health.
