Prepare For The Holidays With The Febreze Carpet Care Thanksgiving Giveaway ($100 Amex GC + more) (Closed)

Febreze_logo

It’s November already, can you believe it? Last time I paired up with Febreze it was Spring and I had just tried their carpet care cleaner for the first time, with wondrous results. Since then I’ve used it all over the house. I absolutely love the smell and of course I wouldn’t be talking to you about it again if it didn’t do a fantastic job.

It’s only been about 3 months since I last cleaned my carpets and I’m embarrassed to say I need to clean them again. Badly. Now that my baby has learned how to walk he’s making messes all over the place. Couple that with a 3 year old that’s like a tornado, and mix in all the autumn leaves and dirt that has been dragged in and, well, you get my point. My floors are definitely not ready for the holidays! and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. (Canadians I know yours has already passed so you should have some good stories.)

I’m betting a lot of you are in the same position. You want to get your house cleaned up before your family arrives for the holidays and then once they walk out the door you have another big mess to clean up. All those feet on your carpet. Try as hard as you can to prevent a disaster, it usually happens anyway. That’s why I’m glad to tell you that Febreze is once again coming to the rescue of my readers.

1 of my readers will win  a $100 Amex Gift Card. That’s enough money to buy yourself some wonderful smelling Febreze Carpet Care Cleaner and get started on your holiday shopping! 4 runner’s up will win their choice of a full size bottle of Febreze Carpet Care Cleaner!

  1. I’ve never had a bizarre Thanksgiving but oddly enough this year may qualify. My aunt posted a mean message about another family member on FB and now there is a divide so this may be the first Thanksgiving without half my family.

  2. My most bizarre Thanksgiving experience was the first turkey I tried to cook — it burned of course ? *Thanks* for the giveaway!

  3. not too many bizarre thanksgivings but one year when I was dating my now husband, i went up to seattle and I didn’t know him too well at the time but they went around the table and told what they were thankful for normal for some families but people you barely know and met. was a little awkward for me.

  4. a few years ago, my mother decided to change her green bean casserole recipe. my brother decided to have some and took a huge bite. he smiled and gave the thumbs up sign when my mom asked if everything tasted good. he then proceeded to take his girlfriends drink cup and spit the contents of his mouth into it; they had just started dating. every year we laugh when we see the green bean casserole; we never did figure out what she put in it that year…

  5. The most bizarre thing that happened to me was my guests decided to go shopping and came back late for dinner.

  6. We had gone to my Sister’s house for her first Thanksgiving Dinner on her own…we sat for dinner, said Grace, Carved the bird and served our plates. As everyone started eating the Turkey, funny sounds and faces were made. My brother, whom is very out-spoken, said “This turkey tastes like soap!!” It turns out that my sister was under the impression that cleaning the Turkey really meant to “Clean” the turkey with dish soap.

We all had a lot of laughs, including my sister and tossed the Turkey and ate the Ham (which was delicious 🙂

  7. My most bizarre was when I got into a fight with my boyfriend of the time and he said he would not eat anything I had made. The turkey was almost done and I took it out and marched it to the apartment dumpster and threw it in. A total waste!

  8. By the time it was expected to have our thanksgiving dinner, everyone was hungry and waited so patiently, the turkey was overcooked to the point you couldn’t carve it. Embarrassed?, yes, hungry? yes, we had to find a subsitute for the main course.

  9. My daughter in law decided to cook the turkey for thanksgiving and she doesn’t cook. The turkey was raw. Very undercooked

  10. One Thanksgiving, my brother and I thought we would go ride out ATVs before dinner. We took off into the bushes. My brother’s got stuck.

I went and got my pickup to get the ATV ‘unstuck.’ My pickup sunk in the mud up to the axles. I tried to get it out for about 3 hours. As we were out in the middle of nowhere, there weren’t any phones – this was before cell phones – finally, I got ahold of my dad. He came out and tried to winch out us out. He got stuck. He got his ‘other’ truck with another winch and finally got all three vehicles out…

I never made it to dinner…

  11. I spent 2 Thanksgivings in a row (the past two) at the Emergency Room. Once was for my mom and once was for me. I ate burgers in the Cafeteria, I was surprised they couldn’t spring for Thanksgiving dinner at the hospital.

  12. One thanksgiving we were all ready to eat and I remembered I had forgotten to make the potatoes…oh well, it still was good!

  13. my most bizzare thanksgiving experience would have to be when my mother in law made pizzas…pizza for thanksgiving????

  14. The year before my mother passed away, she chased me around my aunts house with a turkey leg. Have it all on video. It was hilarious
    brittneydejajason at gmail dot com

  15. Before I was born, my grandma accidentally cooked my dad’s football mouthpiece in with the turkey!

  16. My most bizarre Thanksgiving moment is going to my mother in-laws house for Thanksgiving and instead of a traditional dinner, she had weird foods. I mean like nachos, tater tots, and a salad. The next year, we told her we were making a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at our house for the kids and we were skipping hers! After that, she has made a traditional Thanksgiving meal every year. When I say made, I mean purchased it already prepared!!

  17. The most bizarre Thanksgiving for me was the time we were attacked by a deer on the road (he hit us, we did NOT hit him), my brother fell asleep while he was driving, and I missed a turnoff and drove us hours out of our way before realizing my mistake.

  18. I forgot to remove the innards from my first turkey. They were in a plastic bag and it melted inside the turkey and stunk up the whole house.

  19. Our most bizarre was the year we spent Thanksgiving with a German family and they cooked….it was an interesting feast of Germanized American food…

  20. None of my Thanksgiving experiences have been TOO bizarre, but I’ve not had the fortune of hosting one yet… I’m sure my time is coming!

  21. One Thanksgiving my grandmother decided that we should all be scolded for not liking her friends – it was the strangest, most frustrating, and saddest thanksgiving I could imagine!!

  22. I NEVER REALLY HAD A BIZARRE THANKSGIVING, I NEVER REALLY GOT INTO HOLIDAYS THAT MUCH. HOWEVER, NOW I AM A MOMMY, SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO CELEBRATE FAMILY AT THIS TIME, SO WHO KNOWS WHAT BABY’S FIRST THANKSGIVING WILL BRING 🙂

    shebebes@yahoo.com

  23. I myself cannot remember any particularly bizarre Thanksgiving experience, but I do remember that one year one of my cousins forgot to take the giblets bag out of the turkey before she cooked it.

  24. I was teaching an English as a Second language class about Thanksgiving -including how to cook the dinner. I blew the cooking and forgot about the turkey…I cooked it so long it turned into rubber!

  25. Might have done the initial entries twice. The Rafflecopter seems to have completely re-set. (Didn’t change computer, re-set cookies or anything)

    mtdoonmeister at gmail dot com

  26. The year my sister got up early and put the turkey in the roaster and by afternoon we all sat down to eat and the turkey was not done, we ended up cutting pieces of it and cooking it in the microwave

  27. beveanne mckinley

my most bizarre thanksgiving was in my teens many years ago, i had the day off from my waitressing job and was walking along the hiway hitchhiking down to see if i could find my uncle i got picked up by and taken into the commune led by j.d. miller(deleware deathrow inmate) he designed a tattoo for me but when i asked him to put it on he said he liked me to much which was cool because he kept reposessing tattoos by cutting the skin off of people until they were dead and he had his artwork returned. thats why hes on deathrow.we had turkey with about 60 people who were all on the run from the cops after dinner he put a blindfold on me took me in a van and let me out in the middle of nowhere.in time for me to get back to work the next day.

  28. I cannot think of a bizzare Thanksgiving, but there was one time when my cake fell apart and I glued it back together was frosting

  29. Our most bizarre Thanksgiving was when our oven stopped working that day. Thanks for the chance! 🙂

  30. My most memorable Thanksgiving was my first one away from home with my own family. My son was only 2 months old and I was happy to be cooking the big feast for my little family! Little did I know that you had to defrost the Turkey before cooking it all day! Our turkey needless to say took 2 days to cook and was so dry that you had to literally dip it into water to swallow it. Lucky for me that everyone acted as if it were the perfect Thanksgiving ever!
    Thank you for the opportunity;)

  31. Most bizarre Thanksgiving was when my mom was bringing in the turkey and ended up dropping it on my grandma. Needless to say, it was ruined

  32. I haven’t had any bizarre Thanksgiving moments, thankfully

  33. we visited dh family & his grandmother tried to hide the ham from her son in law out of spite
    tbarrettno1 at gmail dot com

  34. Several years ago my husband was stationed in Okinawa. Celebrating Thanksgiving in a foreign country is not the same.

  35. i spit up water all over the place one thanksgiving dinner as i was laughing so hard and was starting to choke on the water in my mouth

  36. My sister baked the turkey and didn’t know you had to take the bag of giblets out!

  37. I don’t really have any bizarre stories, probably the worst was the year both my vacuum AND my dishwasher AND my heater went out just before everyone was supposed to come to my house! Talk about scrambling! Thank goodness for wonderful neighbors (vacuum) and repairmen!

  38. probably about 4 years ago we went to my then husbands dads house, and instead of having a traditional meal because his girlfriend had to work, we went wandering around town to find soemplace good to eat.. All we could find was the chinese buffet

  39. ended up at a chinese resturant

  40. my first thanksgiving that i cooked myself i cut myself deeply on a can of crisco and ended up bleeding into the gravy! it was a disaster!

  41. I don’t think I’ve had a bizarre thanksgiving, but I work shift work and have weird hours…so it always makes holidays interesting. This year, I get off work in the a.m. of Thanksgiving, will sleep for a few hours, cook dinner, and then go back for more work Thanksgiving night!

  42. Thanksgiving is somewhat of a gambling Holiday. The one hosting the meal prepares the turkey and everyone else brings a prearranged dish to pass. We live in Wisconsin and do not all live in the same town. So asthe Holiday approaches we scour weather reports, the sky, tea leaves etc to see if it will be decent enough traveling weather. We also were a Hockey family so the roads have to be really BAD to stop the show. .

  43. I have an embarrassing not bizarre comment. I forgot to take the gizzards out of the 1st turkey I cooked and everyone made a big deal of it.

  44. My crazy turkey experience is when the oven stopped working on Thanksgiving. It looked like it was working, but several hours later I opened it up and… no heat!

  45. my most bizarre thanksgiving experience is not all that bizarre really. I went to dinner at a dates parents place and we hardly knew eachother. His family was crazy, they got drunk and argued..very uncomfortable and there was not another date after that

  46. I remember when we forgot to take the turkey out of the freezer in time so we had Thanksgiving dinner the next day

  47. one year my mother prepared an entire dinner only to discover the turkey she ha d purchasedhad spoiled.

  48. My most bizarre Thanksgiving was the year my mom let me cook. I think I was like 11. I know. I cooked biscuits(which I burned), I made lumpy mashed potatoes(they were gross) and I ended up making my mom make the Turkey. My pumpkin pie turned out pretty good, though! 🙂

  49. My most bizarre thanksgiving experience is when we all got food poisoning after eating a fresh (not frozen) turkey. I still have a hard time eating turkey after that!
