I have been blogging for 2 years now. It wasn’t until just a few months ago (besides Twitter) that I really started trying to attract fans or visitors. In fact I never even had a subscribe button, google friend connect or facebook fan page. I prided myself on that fact until I realized that in order to move forward with my plans for first-time-mommy.com (not just the blog) I was going to have to build up a fan base.
The past year has been amazing for me as far as my blog goes. I love reviewing products that I know other parent’s will appreciate. I also love entering contests and sweepstakes myself. All the blogging I did in the past year allowed me to first and foremost, exercise my brain! When you’re home alone with 2 small children and all you’ve watched is Nick Jr for days you can go stir crazy. The second benefit of blogging and sweeping for me is that I have been able to make a small amount of extra money for my family in an extremely tough economy where there are no traditional jobs available.
It has always been my goal in life to have my own business. When I bought first-time-mommy.com it had literally taken me 10 years to find my niche. I discovered that I really love helping other mothers in any way I can. I had big plans for first-time-mommy.com until I discovered that parenting takes A LOT OF TIME. That’s when I started relying on blogging a little more instead of going through with my original plan.
So where am I going with all of this? Well, my new years resolution for my “professional” life is to push forward and get started on developing my website and not just my blog. However, I love blogging so much that I also want to continue to move forward with that as well because after all, all work and no play makes Monica a dull girl.
In Summary
I want to do something for all the fans, friends, and followers I’ve made this past year that have helped me get this far and all the people I will meet this year that will help me push it to the next level. I’m going to take the money I have made with sponsored tweets, twtmob, google adsense, and paid blog posts and reinvest it back into YOU so you have a head start accomplishing your own New Years resolution!
